Samedi du partage maintains its upward trend

The people of Geneva responded generously to the Saturday of Sharing appeal for solidarity, and the association collected 213 tonnes of essential goods. The result for this edition is up on the June 2021 edition (+6%) and the November 2019 edition (+16%).

For the organisers, relief and satisfaction are the order of the day: the result is excellent, even if it does not match the 275 tonnes of November 2020, which can be described as historic and which was certainly linked to an unprecedented social situation. Despite the many appeals to the people of Geneva, they did not hesitate to spend money on behalf of those less fortunate than themselves, and a total of 213 tonnes of foodstuffs and hygiene articles were collected on 26 and 27 November.

The entire harvest is given to the Partage food bank, which will redistribute it free of charge to around fifty Geneva charities and social services working with the most vulnerable people.

The organisers would like to extend their warmest thanks to the companies, associations, service clubs, students and private individuals who volunteered their time and energy for this major solidarity initiative. They were deployed in 90 food stores to inform customers and put away the merchandise on offer.

The Samedi du partage association would also like to thank the retailers and their teams who took care of the logistics of the event and supported the volunteers.

If you haven’t had time to shop for Saturday, you can still take part in the online collection (https://samedidupartage.ch/e-recolte/).

The next Sharing Saturday will take place on 10 and 11 June 2022.
